Variohm XP Hall Effect Rotary Position Sensors
New non-contact angle sensor range has well-proven design, custom programmable angle and characteristic curve - and practical choice of interfacing
Overview
With its custom programmable angle and characteristic curve, a choice of housing materials and shaft options, Variohm EuroSensor’s new Euro XP series angle sensor offers the motorsports user a wide range of built-in and optional features that maximise its cost-effective use in position feedback applications including sequential gearbox, throttle, and steering angle measurement.
The non-contacting Hall Effect sensor has been well proven in earlier sensor designs as a long life and extremely robust technology for motorsports. The Euro XP has an industry favoured ratiometric output from a nominal 5 V DC supply and a redundant dual-track 360 degree measuring range which can be factory programmed for angles from 30 to 360 degrees for both range and curve – allowing users, for instance, to specify a constant voltage output over defined angles which is very useful for gearbox applications. Variohm hold large stocks of the sensor and can program and ship within 24 hours of order receipt. The highly accurate sensor provides an independent linearity of +/- 0.5% of each signal range with repeatability to better than 0.2%.
The sensor element, supported in a robust bearing arrangement is available in choice of anodised aluminium or high temperature resistant plastic sealed housings that both meet IP67 environmental rating and may be used at short term ambient temperatures up to 150º C.
The face mounted housing includes slotted fixings for ease of radial adjustment and the drive shaft options include a Form U slot or a backlash free push-on spring coupling for quick and simple installation.
Variohm supplies the motorsports industry with a wide range of sensors and transducers including rotary and linear position sensors in contacting and non-contacting technologies, in a range of mounting styles and environmental ratings with wide choice of analogue and digital outputs.
